History

My name is Willi Christiansen, 26, and I am employed in DONG Energy in Copenhagen. I work as a turnus-engineer, which means that I am working within different areas in DONG Energy in the first 3 years. In 2006 and 2007 I have been working on planning and implementing offshore wind farms in the UK. Currently (2008) I am sitting on a coal plant in Århus, where I work on generator protection.

I achieved a Master’s of Science (MSc) degree in Electrical Engineering in September 2006 on the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in Copenhagen. A copy of my Master’s Thesis and other relevant projects which I have been involved in can be downloaded under “Other downloads”.

Curriculum Vitae

You are welcome to download my C.V.  (English, Danish or German)

           Presentation of the Master’s Thesis

A condensed summary of the Master’s Thesis was presented at the “Sixth International Workshop on Large-Scale Integration of Wind Power and Transmission Networks for Offshore Wind Farms” in Delft in Holland. You can download version of the paper here and a copy of the power point presentation here.

Other downloads

You are welcome to download some of the projects, which I have been involved in during my study on the Technical University of Denmark (Adobe files).

In relation to my Master’s Thesis

Master’s Thesis

September 2006

The Master’s Thesis presents a line of procedure of how an optimal fault ride through strategy for a wind farm can be achieved.  An abstract of the project can be downloaded here. You are also welcome to download the complete Master’s Thesis (2.9 MB).

Furthermore there exists a condensed summary published as a paper, which was presented at the “Sixth International Workshop on Large-Scale Integration of Wind Power and Transmission Networks for Offshore Wind Farms” in Delft in Holland. You can download version of the paper here.

The correlated power point presentation can be downloaded here.

Pre-project for the Master’s Thesis

January 2006

An analysis of connection requirements for wind farms in selected Grid Codes. The project outlines the most restringing requirements in Europe. Here you can download the complete report (0.6 MB).

Other projects

Connection queries of a wind farm in Australia

September 05 - December 05

A project worked out for the consulting company Balslev A/S in Copenhagen. The project is about short circuit and load flow studies of an upcoming wind farm in EMU Downs in Australia. Here you can download the report (0.5 MB).

Natural Convection around over head lines

September 05 - December 05

A project worked out in cooperation with the Danish Transmission System Operator, energinet.dk. It is an analysis of an alternative method for calculating the energy balance of over head lines. Here you can request a copy of the report (0.7 MB).

Implementing and modelling of wind power in Ireland

February 05 - June 05

This is my Bachelor project, which was worked out in cooperation with the Irish Transmission System operator in Dublin, ESB National Grid. The report consists of different wind power connection studies worked out with the simulation program PSSE. Here you can download the report (3.3 MB).

Power Gradients of wind turbines

September 04 - December 04

A paper about the required measurement frequency of wind gusts. It is shown that for representative data a frequency of 5 seconds is preferable. Here you can download the paper (0.3 MB).

Tension monitoring of high loaded over head lines

July 04 - August 04

A project about the potential of the tension monitoring equipment on high loaded over head lines. The project was worked out in cooperation with the Danish Transmission system operator energinet.dk. Here you can request equest a copy of the reporta copy of the report (only a Danish version, 1.3 MB).
